I am a beast

Every time I go on vacation, I have the best intentions to work out at least 3x a week. I pack all my gym clothes and save work out videos that can be done in a hotel without any gym equipment. But do I actually work out? Nope, the answer is NO, NO, and NO. My gym attire is still neatly folded and untouched in my suitcase. I do this every time I travel, but still, before every trip, I tell myself “it’s going to be different this time, I’m gonna work out”.⠀

This is a lie I like to tell myself repeatedly. When I go on vacay mode, I’m a different person. I’m suddenly Super Fun Sam. I eat more food than I normally would. I lay in bed and do nothing. I spend more money on shit I don’t need. I allow my son to eat ice cream and act a fool in public. I just don’t give a shit about a lot of things. ⠀

And that’s okay. Because vacation mode is the only time where I get to be a more relaxed version of myself. I am a super intense person at baseline and I exhaust myself most days. I’m always trying to DO MORE. More reading. More cleaning. More cooking. More financial planning. More physical activity. I strive to do more to change myself and the world around me. And this is something I love and hate about myself. ⠀

This is why I travel so much. Because I need a vacation from me. â €

But when I’m back home, I’m back to being plain old boring Sam. The Sam that wakes up at 5am and cooks a healthy breakfast for her son. The Sam that makes it a priority to work out 4x a week to maintain her mental and physical health. The Sam that studies medicine so she’s up to date with the latest research and treatment recommendations. The Sam that spends hours trying to figure out blog content and debate if blogging life is truly for her. ⠀

So, today, this is me, back to doing life the normal boring way. Back to the gym. It’s a start. It’s my reset. C’mon, get your ass up and move! You’ll never regret a work out!
